This weekend’s Rocket Classic Pitch Competition, held in collaboration with Black Tech Saturdays, showcased the power of Detroit’s tech ecosystem—where innovation, culture, and entrepreneurship converge. Backed by the Gilbert Family Foundation and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the competition awarded a $7,500 grant to one standout founder, recognizing bold ideas built to create real impact.
A Growing Ecosystem of Black Tech Excellence
The event highlighted the growing influence of Black tech founders, creatives, and startups leading Detroit into the future. From clean energy to finance to automation, each pitch represented a unique solution to modern-day challenges—and a shared belief in the power of ownership and innovation.
At G2 Marketing & Development Agency (G2MDA), we follow the movement closely. As a creative agency committed to supporting diverse voices in business and tech, we’re always encouraged to see platforms like Black Tech Saturdays creating space for founders to be seen, heard, and funded.
